Around the Thanksgiving Table
Select the first and last letter of a word, or drag between them. Keyboard: use arrow keys, then Enter to select each end.
Take your time. There is no timer.
A puzzle that fits your pause.
The easy grid has 12 rows and 12 columns, with words going right or down. Extra challenge has 14 rows and 14 columns, with words in all eight directions. Select both ends of a word to mark it, or drag from one end to the other. If you need a hand, show the solution without losing your progress.
Every arrangement is checked against its answer key before it is displayed. New arrangement changes the letter layout and clears your progress. The PDF always matches the arrangement on your screen.
You may print these original puzzles for personal use and non-commercial groups. Read the permissions.

A way to use this sheet
Offer the easy sheet while guests arrive, without a time limit or a race. For neighboring seats, use the three-grid table pack below so everyone has the same words in a different arrangement.
For groups, print one puzzle page per person and keep the answer page separately. Our printing permissions cover personal use and non-commercial groups. Read the Letter and A4 printing guide if a page is clipped.
Can I get a version without backward words?
Yes. Choose Easy: words run from left to right or top to bottom. There are no diagonal or backward placements in that level.
Does the answer sheet match a shuffled puzzle?
The live Download PDF button creates an answer sheet for the current grid. The fixed PDF links above always use the original edition. Match the puzzle codes at the bottom of the two pages.
Try another theme

Three different grids. The same 12 words.
Give neighboring guests different arrangements, or keep two for another day. Each easy grid uses FAMILY, HARVEST, TURKEY, PUMPKIN, GRAVY, CRANBERRY, STUFFING, THANKS, PARADE, NAPKIN, FEAST and PIE. Words only run right or down.
The answer pack has six pages: Table 1, its answer, Table 2, its answer, Table 3, its answer. The puzzles-only file has three pages. The puzzle codes match each grid to its own key.

Print single-sided at Actual size / 100%. Grid letters are about 23 points; word lists are 16 points. For a small gathering, print pages 1, 3 and 5 and keep the answer sheets aside. You can make multiple copies for personal use or a non-commercial community group.
A calm activity while the table comes together
Set out a sheet and a pencil for anyone who wants a quiet pause. Read the words together first, then let people solve alone or in pairs. Afterwards, choose one word as a conversation prompt: a favorite pie, a family recipe or something you are thankful for. Finishing every word is optional.
This is a food-and-gathering word search, not a history worksheet. The printable sheets are undated, so you can reuse them in a later year.

May our library or community group print copies?
Yes, for a non-commercial group, with the credit kept on each complete sheet. Link to this page when sharing online. Please do not resell the files or republish the collection as your own. See printing permissions.
