Word Search for Seniors
Free printable word searches for older adults, with large clear letters, familiar topics and a separate answer page. Play online or print in US Letter or A4. No account or email.
Why these puzzles are easy to read
- Large grid letters: about 23 points in the easy PDFs and 21 points in the extra challenge, with 16-point word lists.
- Easy level runs one way: 12 words in a 12 × 12 grid, reading left to right or top to bottom only. No diagonal or backward words.
- Plain pages: dark letters on a pale grid, with no busy background to print.
- Answers kept apart: the solution is on page two, so you can hand out the puzzle and keep the key.
When someone wants more, the extra challenge on each theme uses 16 words in all eight directions.

All in one download
The large-print word search pack puts eight easy puzzles in one file, with or without answers. The daily word search offers a new puzzle every day, online or as a PDF.
A second word game on the same themes
Every theme also has a printable word scramble. The easy level keeps the first letter in place, which makes a gentle follow-on once the word search is done.
Something with numbers
For a change from letters, our large print sudoku has big bold numbers in easy, medium and hard packs, with answers at the back.
Tips for activity coordinators
Print one test page at Actual size or 100% before making copies; fit-to-page settings make the letters smaller. Read the word list aloud before starting, so everyone knows what to look for. Offer pencils and a highlighter, and let people work alone or in pairs.
For a group sitting together, the group pack maker creates different grids from the same words, with all answers at the back. To use names from your community or a recent outing, the word search maker turns your own list into a puzzle; the words stay on your device.
Some people prefer fewer words or a single direction. Start with an easy sheet and move on only if the person wants to. These are leisure puzzles for enjoyment and conversation; they are not a medical or therapy program.
Permission to print for your group
You may print complete copies of the themed puzzles for personal use and non-commercial groups, including senior centers, libraries, churches and care homes, keeping the Quiet Word Garden credit. Please do not resell them. Read the full permissions and the printing guide.
