How to play the world geography game
Name the country turns the globe to a country and lights it up; choose its name from four answers. Find it on the globe gives you a name: turn the globe and tap the country. If you are stuck, the hint lights up the right part of the world, and you can always switch to four answers instead. Capitals asks for the capital city of the country shown.
Gentle level keeps to well-known countries that are easy to spot, and the wrong answers come from other parts of the world. Challenge includes every country, the tiny island nations too, with answers from close neighbours. Pick one continent or the whole world.
Today’s globe is the same ten questions for everyone on the same day, with a spoiler-free result you can share. Journeys are trips of eight or nine stops — the Silk Road, a Mediterranean cruise, an African safari and more — with a postcard at each one. Explore lets you wander and look up any country and its capital.
On a phone, drag with one finger to turn the globe and pinch to zoom. On a computer, drag with the mouse and use the scroll wheel, the + and − buttons, or the arrow keys. Tiny states are shown as round markers; zoom in to see those inside other countries, such as Vatican City or Monaco.
Borders and names follow the countries recognised by the United Nations; the map outlines come from Natural Earth. More word games: today’s word search, word scrambles and large print sudoku.
