Six kinds of activity
- Extra easy word searches: 8 words, left to right only, very large letters.
- Large print word searches: 12 words, right and down, on 51 themes. An extra challenge for confident solvers.
- Word scrambles: unscramble familiar words; the easy level gives the first letter.
- Large print sudoku: five levels from gentle to expert, six puzzles per PDF.
- World geography game: spin a 3D globe on a screen or projector and let the room call out the country.
- A daily word search: a new puzzle every day for a morning routine.

Planning a 45-minute puzzle session
- Welcome (5 minutes). Introduce the theme with a question: “Who had a dog growing up?”
- Read the list aloud (5 minutes). Everyone hears the words before searching.
- Search (20 minutes). Hand out extra-easy, easy or challenge sheets to suit each person. Pairs work well.
- Share (10 minutes). Go round the room: which word brought back a memory?
- Something different (5 minutes). A word scramble read aloud as a group riddle, or one round of the geography globe.
Printing tips
Print one test page at Actual size or 100%, because fit-to-page makes the letters smaller. Answer keys are always on separate pages, so you can print puzzles only. For a table of people, the group pack maker makes different grids from the same words. To include residents’ names, a recent outing or a local landmark, use the word search maker; the words stay on your device.
Seasonal collections
All in one place: Thanksgiving puzzles and Christmas puzzles.

You may print complete copies of our themed puzzles for personal use and non-commercial groups, including senior centers, care homes, libraries and churches, keeping the Quiet Word Garden credit.
